About this website
February 2020
At last some time to add some more. The Barn conversion is finished and the Barn section is complete. Various other tweaks, but Gallery still work in progress.
February 2013
Pretty much up to date on here now, but still the Gallery and Video to add. Some areas need revisiting to make more current, but available time is running out!
January 2013
Eventually found some time to update the site. Totally frustrated at Joomla, it is not novice friendly, and left neglected it now seems to be pretty locked up. Have backed it up, but it needs updating with later software, and is proving a nightmare.
In looking around for alternatives, Weebly is looking a good alternative host, so have started migrating the content over to a new site. Part copied from backup docs in word, and part from copy and pasting from the current website, it is proving a fairly quick process. However, the text format is changing when inserted into Weebly, and it is taking an age to go through it all and correct this.
However, Weebly is extremely simple to use. No code at all, no editors, just drag and drop on the website itself. The biggest time saver is loading images. Joomla required reducing the size of the image file to save time, then writing a directory, then uploading the image to that directory, then uploading to the website after putting code into the destination of the image on the website. On Weebly you just open an image upload box, click on a full size image from my pictures folder, and within a few seconds the image is on the website. This can then be edited in-situ how you want.
Only downside so far is the lack of a spell checker, so I have needed to download a freeware one to use via a right click. I am debating if to prepare docs in word, or direct on the website - I still don't like not having a back-up copy on my computer. But otherwise going well.
The Joomla site is still live, the Weebly one off-line while I build it.

Got some time to update this website now. Managed to add photos to articles, as in the 'Disco' one under 'Vehicles'.
February 2010
The website is starting to take shape after many days and hours spent. However, keeping track of how I am doing it is a nightmare.
Joomla can be configured without any knowledge of HTML, although some coding is required in places. I have found that importing or using plugins and modules is the easiest way forward, as these generally require very little to set-up.
Meanwhile Ralph has lost me on the 4x4 Response site, might catch up in a few years!

Started work on a Joomla website for Long Field Barn. At the same time I started to follow the development of a new Joomla website for N&S 4x4 Response. This was being set up by Ralph Hardwick, with some content being added by myself. This can
be found at http://www.4x4response.net/
